Yes, that surely works for the user that has been warned, but what about all the other users who are wondering why that person got warned? My point was that a public warning has a greater effect on the other members of the board that can't be measured.

I can only speak for myself:anyone browsing the "Current HYIP's-discussion" folder can notice that,when a user posts his/her referral link,I warn the user,remove the referral link,aswell as post the reason for warning him/her in that particular thread,so I warn the user publicly,aswell as add a warning level to the account.

My point was that,based on my experience,a simple public warning is not enough,and that "official" warnings are,sadly, a must when dealing with blatant rule violation issues.

I have to agree with the "different treatment" of people...some mods just give a warning in the post for next time....and then some nail ya right in and make it sound really bad....I think there should be "mod school" or something..
or a little extra training...

others than that...the sig rules are really not that difficult to follow
